It's Hands-free and Wearable

As a new brand in the breast pump industry, Elvie seems to be focusing on hands-free wearable breast pumps. All the Elvive breast pumps are designed in this style, including the Stride.

It’s that the Elvie Stride has a pump hub to control the milk expression and is similar to the Momcozy V2, while the Elive Pump features a one-piece design like the Momcozy M5.

The hands-free wearable design gives you remarkable freedom. Whether you’re juggling household chores, running errands, or simply trying to steal a moment of relaxation, you can pump discreetly and comfortably with the Elvie Stride tucked away behind your feeding bra.

It’s like having a trusted companion by your side, supporting you through every step of your breastfeeding or exclusive pumping journey.

Elvie Stride Pump Parts

At first glance, you’ll feel that the Elvie Stride has two main parts as other double electric breast pumps, the pump motor and the cups for collecting milk. After checking the details in the user manual. Holly god! It’s more complicated than we can imagine in a hands-free breast pump.

The Elvie Stride pump parts comprise a comprehensive set of components essential for efficient and hygienic milk expression. From the hub and cups (including the fronts and seals – yes, Elvie even divides a cup into two parts) to the breast shields and valves, each part plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless pumping experience.

Let’s see how many parts are divided and contained in the Elvie Stride pump standard package.

Pump motor: hub and cover

Milk collector: (two) cup fronts and (two) cup seals for two cups, two 24mm breast shields, two caps, two valves, and two diaphragms.

Other necessary accessories include 1 clip and 1 long tube used for the hub; one tube splitter and two short tubes to connect the cups and motor.

Don’t be afraid of so many parts of Elvie Stride. It’s easy to assemble if you can distinguish the main parts, like the hub and milk container.

Or you can have another way to tell the major parts in Elvie Stride, parts that need to be cleaned (generally have replacements), and parts that don’t need to be rinsed.

How to clean Elvie Stride?

You just need to wash several parts, including the breast shield, cup front, cup seal, diaphragm, and valve. These parts touch the milk and need to be cleaned after every pump. Make sure to clean them before the first pump as well.

Where to store milk in Elvie Stride?

The expressed milk is stored in the cup front. But this does not affect the container capacity. Elvie Stride pump can store 5oz milk for each breast every pump. That’s average as other double electric breast pumps, manual breast pumps, and hospital-grade breast pumps.

Flange Size and Inserts

Elvie Stride is equipped with a single-size flange: of 24mm. That’s the standard flange size in most double-electric breast pumps probably because the 24-mm flange size is suitable for most moms.

Although this may seem limiting at first glance, I’ve found that the 24 mm size fits comfortably for many moms, myself included. It’s a versatile option that works well for a wide range of breast shapes and sizes, offering efficient milk expression without unnecessary complications.

The best part is that Elvie Stride provides an additional flange insert for free when you place an order on their official website, with multiple-sized flange inserts from 15mm to 28mm. The 28mm flange inserts are a good option if you have big breasts and nipples.

From this point, the Elvie Stride is a better option than the Momcozy V2, even though the latter provides two flange sizes and several flange inserts. However, to make full use of this free add-on service for Elvie Stride, you’ll need to know what size of flange best fits you. This flange size guide may help if you need it.

It's Portable Breast Pump

If you’re a mom who needs to take care of several children or multitask, you’ll love the Elvie Stride breast pump for on-the-go pumping convenience. I can attest to the importance of its lightweight design.

While each milk-collecting cup may weigh a bit more than those of other brands like Momcozy and Medela, the overall weight of the Elvie Stride pump hub and cups is still manageable at 540g.

Sure, it’s a tad heavier than some alternatives, especially in the cups. Elvie Stride’s cups for collecting milk weigh 150g each, in comparison, the Momcozy V2’s cup weighs 120g and Medela FreeStyle’s cup weighs only 76g each.

However, the difference is hardly noticeable when considering the Elvie Stride pump’s overall performance and portability, especially compared to the one-piece designed double electric breast pumps, like the Elive Pump.

The compact dimensions of the Elvie Stride’s milk-collecting cups make it a dream to wear, even during busy days filled with errands and activities. Measuring just 120 x 105 x 55 mm, these cups would fit snugly against your breast without adding unnecessary bulk or discomfort.

Whether I’m wearing them under my clothing or discreetly tucked into my bra, they remain virtually invisible, allowing me to move freely and confidently.

It’s a pity that the manufacturer does not provide a storage bag. If you want to make it for on-the-go purposes, you’ll need to purchase a bag to store the Elvie Stride pump.

Or get the Elvie Stride Plus, which includes more accessories and three bags – one big carry bag and two small ones. The additional accessories and storage bags cost you $50 more.

Digital Display - app-controlled

The Intensity Lights under the Play/Pause button are the only digital display for Elvie Stride.

Unlike the Momcozy V2, the Elvie Stride does not feature a digital display on its hub motor. Instead, it relies on a more streamlined design that prioritizes simplicity and discretion.

Don’t know how to customize the Elvie Stride pump settings for best output? Don’t worry. You can do all the customization via your phone. The Elive Stride is app-controlled and you can connect it to your phone via Bluetooth.

But no digital display might be a problem for most moms who are not used to controlling a breast pump by phone. From this point, Elvie Stride is more appealing to young moms Millennial.

Modes and Suction Level

The Elvie Stride offers two pumping options to accommodate the needs and preferences of breastfeeding moms: single pumping and double pumping. With the ability to switch seamlessly between these two options, moms can tailor their pumping experience to suit their individual circumstances.

However, most moms choose double pumping to ensure efficient milk expression. Whether you’re an exclusive pumping mom or a breastfeeding mom using Elive Stride regularly at the office or on the road, double pumping is a better choice for increasing efficiency and saving time.

No matter whether single or double pumping, the Elvie Stride provides two modes for milk expression: Stimulation and Expression.

Most double electric breast pumps support these two modes or similar functions. But Elvie Stride still outperforms at this point – it allows for 10 levels of adjustment for each mode, making it as good as the typical hospital-grade breast pumps from Spectra and Medela. Its competitors – Momcozy V2 and Medela FreeStyle allow for 9 levels.

How to customize the Elvie Stride pump settings for the best output? That depends. Every mom has their own condition and breast pump needs. You can try to set it up several times to find the best settings for your own.

Suction Strength

Boasting a maximum suction strength of 300 mmHg, the Elvie Stride sets a new standard for double electric breast pumps. You need to know that suction power surpasses even other hospital-grade pumps on the market.

This remarkable suction capability of the Elvie Stride ensures efficient and thorough milk expression, making it an ideal choice for moms who prioritize performance and reliability. If you encounter a problem with emptying out, you may try the Elvie Stride.

Whether stimulating milk let-down or expressing milk during the Expression mode, the Elvie Stride delivers unparalleled suction power that effortlessly mimics the natural breastfeeding and pumping process.

Comparison chart of the maximum suction power of the most popular models.

Battery Life

The Elvie Stride’s 2300 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery ensures reliable performance and long-lasting power, making it an essential companion for busy moms on the go.

When fully charged, the Elvie Stride can last approximately five 30-minute sessions (around 150 minutes in total) ensuring uninterrupted pumping sessions throughout the day.

Then you can charge it when it’s not in use. The 2300 mAh battery capacity is top-rated among double electric breast pumps. It takes approximately two hours to fully charge the hub for next-day use.

To let you know the performance of Elive Pump battery life, we compare it to Medela FreeStyle and Momcozy V2.

  • Elive Stride: 2 hours of charge for 150 minutes of use
  • Medela FreeStyle: 2 hours of charge for 2 hours of use
  • Momcozy V2: 170 minutes of charge for 180 minutes of use

Even if we give the Elive Stride the title of “smart” breast pump, it’s not as smart as the Willow 360 at this point. The latter supports quick charge – a 20-minute fast charge will last for one pumping session.

Additional Settings

The Elvie Stride features a 40-minute auto shutoff, which automatically pauses pumping after 40 minutes of continuous use, demonstrating a thoughtful consideration for both safety and convenience.

It’s a bit longer than the average 30-minute pumping session, tut still performs as expected: by pausing after 40 minutes, the Elvie Stride helps prevent overheating and prolongs the lifespan of the pump, ensuring optimal performance and reliability over time.

Warranty

The Elvie Stride’s robust warranty time sets it apart as a reliable and trustworthy option in the realm of breast pumps.

With a generous two-year warranty for the hub and a commendable ninety-day warranty for all other components, the Elvie Stride offers peace of mind to breastfeeding moms.

The two-year warranty is the longest duration among the double electric breast pumps. Most come with a one-year warranty for the pump motor or hub. The comparison of Elvie Stride vs Momcozy V2 vs Medela FreeStyle may clearly explain this point:

  • Elvie Stride: operating life- 500 hours, warranty- 2 years
  • Momcozy V2: operating life-500 hours, warranty – 1 year
  • Medela FreeStyle: operating life-250 hours, warranty – 1 year

Elvie Stride Reviews from Customers

The Elvie Stride Pump is a game-changer for breastfeeding mothers. This hands-free, wearable breast pump is a true innovation, and here's why it's worth every penny. The freedom it provides is exceptional. Being able to pump discreetly while going about your day, whether it's working, running errands, or just enjoying some downtime, is a game-changer. The compact and wireless design means no more being tethered to a traditional pump, and the noise level is impressively low, making it perfect for use in various settings. The Elvie Stride is incredibly comfortable to wear. The soft, silicone breast shields are gentle on sensitive skin and offer a customizable fit with three different sizes included. The app connectivity is a great feature, allowing you to monitor pumping sessions, adjust settings, and track milk volume. Plus, it's relatively easy to clean and assemble, saving you time and hassle. The pump's suction strength and efficiency are impressive, with multiple modes and adjustable settings to suit your comfort and needs. The expression of milk is gentle yet effective, and the double pumping option is a time-saver for busy moms. However, it's worth noting that the initial setup and learning curve may take a little time, but once you get the hang of it, it's incredibly user-friendly. It not only simplifies the pumping process but also empowers women to take control of their schedules without sacrificing their breastfeeding journey. While it's an investment, the convenience and freedom it offers are priceless for mothers looking to balance their busy lives with breastfeeding. I highly recommend it to fellow moms.

I needed a hands-free pump, so I could go back to work. I was also looking for something that was quick and quiet. You can hear the motor when the room is very quiet, but if there's any normal noise you can't really hear a thing. Just make sure the charging ports flap is closed. I has tried a hand pump and a hospital grade electric pump, and neither of them pumped enough milk. I was always left feeling like my breast were not being emptied. I have twins and was only pulling about 2oz per side. With this Elvie, I'm pumping 7-8oz in 10-20 mins, all while being able to still move around. It's comfortable, extremely easy to clean, easy to assemble and disassemble, and easy to control with the app or hub. I am obsessed with this pump. Mo more engorgment. No more milk blisters. Most importantly, I'm effortlessly pping enough milk for both of my babies. I will never use another pump. This one is perfect. I've been using it everyday, multiple times a day, for almost 2 months, now. The only thing is that it makes my chest look unnaturally large. So, I have to wear a sweater or sweatshirt if I'm pumping at work or in public.

I have had the Medela Pump in Style for five months and the suction is horrible, it's small but loud, made weird noises a few times, and it took me an extra 15 minutes to "empty out". I finally caved and purchased the Elvie. So far no complaints. It's lightweight, very quiet and easy to use and I can finish in a 15-20 minute pump session. The suction is great for those who like a soft suction and those who prefer a hard suction, you can also use the fridge method with these. This hospital grade pump is a must have and I highly recommend. I might add the cleaning is a bit tedious, the hole where the nip goes is very hard to get to even when using the tiny bottle brushes. I also prefer this pump over the Momcozy s9 and Medela Manuel pump.

1. Performance: The Elvie Stride offers hospital-grade suction power and app-controlled operation, which may provide efficient and personalized pumping sessions. If these features align with your pumping needs, the Elvie Stride could be worth the investment.

2. Convenience: If you value hands-free pumping and the ability to pump discreetly, especially in various settings like at work or on the go, Elvie Stride’s wearable design may be worth it for you.

3. Warranty and support: The Elvie Stride comes with a two-year warranty on the hub, providing added peace of mind. Additionally, consider the availability of customer support and any additional services offered by the manufacturer.

How long can you pump with Elvie Stride?

The Elvie Stride offers a rechargeable battery that lasts for nearly three hours of pumping, depending on your settings. This duration allows for 5-6 pumping sessions before needing to recharge the battery. Keep in mind that individual pumping sessions may vary in length, and the Elvie Stride battery life may also depend on factors such as suction intensity and usage patterns.

Can I exclusively pump with Elvie Stride?

Yes, you can exclusively pump with the Elvie Stride if it meets your pumping needs and preferences. The Elvie Stride offers hospital-grade suction power and hands-free operation, making it suitable for expressing milk efficiently and conveniently. However, whether you exclusively pump with the Elvie Stride depends on factors such as your milk supply, pumping schedule, and personal comfort. It’s essential to ensure that the pump’s features, such as suction strength, pumping settings, and battery life, align with your pumping goals and lifestyle. Additionally, consulting with a lactation consultant or healthcare provider can provide personalized guidance and support to help you achieve your pumping goals with the Elvie Stride.

Can you pump with Elvie Stride lying down?

No, it’s not suggested to do this. Even though the seal on the flange would be tight to stick to your breast during pumping, lying down can affect the positioning of the pump, potentially leading to decreased suction and milk expression efficiency.

It’s best to sit upright or in a slightly reclined position forward while using the Elvie Stride to ensure optimal performance and milk flow.

How to increase output with Elvie Stride?

To increase milk output with the Elvie Stride, you can follow the user manual to correctly customize personal pumping settings for emptying out.

Besides, there are some common tips to increase output with Elvive Stride and other double electric breast pumps. such as establishing a regular pumping schedule. Experiment with suction intensity and pumping modes, incorporating hands-on pumping techniques to stimulate milk flow.

Stay hydrated, nourished, and relaxed during pumping sessions, aiming to empty the breasts fully. Consistency and patience are key, and consulting with a lactation consultant for personalized guidance can be beneficial for optimizing milk production.

How often should I replace Elvie Stride pump parts?

Due to the cleaning and rinsing, some parts of the Elive Stride may tear for functions. For optimal performance and hygiene, it’s recommended to replace certain parts of the Elvie Stride periodically.

Valves and diaphragms should be replaced every 3-6 months or sooner if they show signs of wear or damage. Breast shields, cup fronts, and cup seals can last longer but should be replaced if they become discolored, cracked, or warped.

Additionally, tubing and other accessories should be inspected regularly for wear and tear and replaced as needed. Following the manufacturer’s guidelines for part replacement and proper maintenance can help ensure the longevity and efficiency of your Elvie Stride breast pump.
