No. No, the Elvie Pump is not a hospital-grade electric breast pump. The maximum suction strength is only 220 mmHg, not as strong as a hospital-grade breast pump. The Elvie Stride is better at this point, it supports a maximum of 300 mmHg suction power.
However, the 220 mmHg suction power is good enough to effectively express milk without causing discomfort, making the Elive Pump a good option to get the job done without any unnecessary fuss or discomfort.

Battery Life
Positioned as a portable breast pump, the Elive Pump has a built-in rechargeable battery for pumping on the go. The battery offers up to two and a half hours of pumping on a full charge – more than enough to power through 5-6 pumping sessions without missing a beat.

I got my Elvie pumps while I was pregnant. They aren’t hospital grade suction, but I get as much output with these as I get in my Spectra. I exclusively pump and use only these pumps. I love them so much! I’ve bought several sets of parts so that I don’t have to do dishes all day. I wash and sterilize between uses. I wish the flanges came in smaller sizes because the cushions are two extra parts to clean. I use the 19 mm cushions and I usually use pumping spray lubricant. My only issue with these pumps is that they can be finicky and fail to suction if I take apart the flange from the base. I usually just take them on and off several times until the pump works again. For this reason, I clean the flanges with pump wipes instead of taking them apart. Also, the infrared milk detection in the app doesn’t work at all for me. It’s so far off they should just remove that feature. Right now it says one cup has 7.5 oz. It’s a 5 oz cup lol. My pumps will also stop if they hit 3 oz, even though they should hold 5 oz. These things are annoying, but it’s so much better than the Spectra that I’m giving it 5 stars anyway.
Elvie is amazing. While in the hospital (baby in NICU) the Elvie pumped more milk than the hospital grade pump they gave me to use in HALF the time. For the next 5 months, they were a dream. I had one pump stop working (pretty confident it was my fault) and I messaged the company on the website chat feature. In less than 48 hours, I had new pumps delivered to my house! I pump during meetings, chasing around my 2 older kids and everything in between. Highly recommend. So appreciate their customer service. I now plan to pump longer than originally planned because the Elvie makes it so easy.
Let me start by saying I paid out of pocket for BOTH a willow and elvie pump- so this is completely unbiased. I purchased the Willow and right off the bat constantly had issues with it. I purchased both the reusable bags option and the configuration to pump into the reusable containers. I can’t tell you how many times I contacted customer service due to the pump being unreliable, it was always something -and one of the 2 pumps was eventually replaced by Willow. I also mention I ordered all 3 available sizes of flanges to make sure sizing was correct. My biggest issue with the Willow is it truly decides when it wants to work( ESPECIALLY with the reusable containers- customer service admitted to me these are still very much a work in progress And I would say that’s an understatement), I’m an exclusive pumper so skipping a pump session due to the pump not working just isn’t an option for me. I can’t just skip a session if the pump doesn’t work- so I constantly had to have another standard pump near as backup (doesn’t that eliminate the point of it!?!) There were so many times where the willow would never switch from stimulation to expression despite meticulously following instructions from Willow and having coaching consultation with them. Also the willow is significantly louder and larger (so if you are small or have a small frame- unless you are wearing a jacket it looks absolutely absurd and ridiculous. I would say the elvie is near silent and the willow is pretty much in line with the volume/sound of a standard pump- maybe just a bit quieter. The elvie- works every time, I literally have yet to have an issue with it. Is so quiet and small that I wear it when I’m working and no one can ever tell even when they are standing right next to me. You could wear this with thin clothing and it doesn’t look ridiculous like the willow. Far fewer/easier parts than the willow is a huge bonus as well. As far as comfort- I’m not at all sensitive- but the willow made me bleed so many times even when using the lowest pump setting and again- wasn’t a size issue as I owned all 3 size flanges to find the perfect fit. My only regret is not getting the elvie sooner. I absolutely despise the willow- and wish I didn’t waste my money on it (not cheap). In my opinion there are 0 advantages of the Willow over the Elvie, not even 1!!!!!!!
